Prabodh Chandra Dey, known by his stage name Manna Dey, was a legendary Indian playback singer. The 94-year-old artist passed away in a Banglore hospital on an early morning of October 24, 2013. Dey was admitted for the treatment of his respiratory illness and renal failure. The legend sang in many Indian languages such as Hindi, Bengali, Assamese, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, Gujarati, Punjabi and Bhojpuri.

Jiah Khan allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her Juhu residence on June 3, 2013. Also known by the name Nafisa Khan, the 25-year-old actress made her Hindi film debut in 2007 opposite Amitabh Bachchan in the controversial film 'Nishabd', for which she was also nominated for Filmfare Best Female Debut Award. She also acted opposite Aamir Khan in Ghajini, and with Akshay Kumar in Housefull.

Veteran Bollywood actor, Jagdish Raj, passed away on July 28, 2013. He was quite known for playing the role of a police officer in number of yesteryear films. Renowned producer Sudhakar Bokade sadly passed away on Sunday night, July 7, 2013. He was 57 in his age, and breathed his last breath at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. Sudhakar, who is a part of the Bollywood family for over two decades now, is quite known for producing movies like 'Izzatdaar' and 'Saajan'. Renowned television actor Abir Goswami sadly passed away on May 31, 2013, due to massive heart attack. Earlier Abir Goswami underwent a surgery for Lymphoma, a kind of cancer tumour, in May 2012. Acclaimed Bengali filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh sadly passed away in Kolkata on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at around 7.30 am. He died due to cardiac arrest. His last film was 'Chitrangada' (2012) in Bengali language, which also had won a National Award. Legendary singer, Shamshad Begum, who is often touted as one of the first playback singer in Hindi cinema, sadly passed away at her Mumbai residence on April 23, 2013. She was 94-year-old. However, specifically pondering on the sequels crowning this season, let's get a quick brush up through the Bollywood sequels in 2014.

Coming first is Dedh Ishqiya, which is a sequel to Abhishek Chaubey's 2011 film Ishqiya. Starring Madhuri Dixit, Huma Qureshi, Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi in lead roles, this second edition carry forwards the previous story with some added twist, suspense and comical thrill lasting till the end. While Madhuri plays Begum Para, Arshad and Naseeruddin retain their previous characters of Babban and Iftekhar respectively.

The sequel to 2006 film Pyaar Ke Side Effects counts second on to the list. While the initial part had Mallika Sherawat and Rahul Bose an unusual leads, the sequel titled Shaadi Ke Side Effects has a promising cast of Farhan Akhtar and Vidya Balan. Directed by Saket Chaudhary, this second edition will trend the story further and highlight the pros and cons of being married!

2012 film Hate Story's sequel comes up next. Directed by Vishal Pandya, Hate Story 2 is believed to retain its thrill and eroticism. However, this second edition of Bhatt clan has further incorporated a new cast on board namely - Sushant Singh, Surveen Chawla and Jay Bhanushali.

Next is, Ragini MMS 2. Directed by Bhushan Patel, this sequel will continue from the climax scene that was left in the first edition. Starring Sunny Leone as an actress, Ragini MMS 2 further has an ensemble cast, including stars like Parveen Dabas, Sahil Prem, Sandhya Mridul and Divya Dutta in lead roles.

Next is the much-awaited 'Singham 2'. Directed by Rohit Shetty, the sequel will retain Ajay Devgn as the main lead. However, unlike the first edition that had Ajay leading his cop duties in a small town, Singham 2 will narrate a city-cop story and trend the movie further.

Bhootnath Returns is next on the list. While the original 2008 release Bhootnath had Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Juhi Chawla in leads, the sequel cast retains Amitabh alone and further includes actress Usha Jadhav, and director Anurag Kashyap playing their respective roles.

Next is Ghayal Returns. Sunny Deol will be seen returning to direction after a gap of over 14 years with this sequel to 1990 film Ghayal. The film is about a father-daughter relationship and has Sunny playing the father in it. Written by Shaktimaan, who also wrote Gadar, this film further has Om Puri and Prakash Raj as leads.

The third installment of yet another Vikram Bhatt's film 1920, counts to be next. Titled 1920 London, this sequel introduces Priyanka Chopra's cousin Meera Chopra alongside Sharman Joshi as the film's leads. 1920 London promises to offer more of haunts and thrills, in comparison to all its prequels.

And lastly, Anees Bazmee's Welcome Back draws an end to this sequel tour. Marking to be the second edition of 2007 hit film Welcome, Welcome Back is believed to continue with its comical tour by retaining star leads Nana Patekar, Paresh Rawal and Anil Kapoor from its prequel. However, the film has further boarded a new set of star leads that include John Abraham, Shruti Haasan, and Amitabh Bachchan in their respective roles.

The only motive shown and the only intention portrayed in the film is - help somebody and then request that person to lend a helping hand to somebody else, thus forming an ever growing circle of people helping each other. Meanwhile, the movie is said to be a remake of South super-hit film Stallin, which was appreciated quite a lot, and thus its one of reason why people should watch the film 'Jai Ho'.

Intending to be a crowd puller of this season, Salman Khan's much awaited release Jai Ho finally hit the screens on 24th of January 2014. However, unlike our highly set expectations, the film has drastically been downed by the critics as well as has failed to chip any high scores at the box office.

Having returned to the big screen after over a year's time, Salman Khan sadly chose to stagnate with his mass entertainer genre by maintaining the same blend of action and romance. Without experimenting on any tangent, Jai Ho had nothing new to offer.

Apart from Salman's star power, Jai Ho had none of the known, leading actresses from Bollywood. In fact, co-star Daisy Shah has marked her debut with Jai Ho.

Except for a couple of songs, Jai Ho offers no good song base that could rank up to become a chartbuster. The boring songs add a turn off feel throughout the movie.

While Daisy Shah was good on her acting front, she has definitely failed to strike a chord with the glamorous quotient. Even the rest of the ensemble cast including Sana Khan has not done justice to the hot-glam forte.

Unlike the recent blockbusters Dhoom3 and Chennai Express, our People's star preferred quoting low ticket prices for Jai Ho. However, failing to gross any profits with this strategy, the film is downing with an unfavorably, slow earnings.
