Apart from many successes and record-breaking movies released, the year 2013 has also been the saddest time for Bollywood and its fans. Check out the list of all those celebrities who sadly passed away in 2013.

Pran Krishan Sikand

Veteran Bollywood actor Pran, whose real name is Pran Nath Sikand, sadly passed away on July 12, 2013. The 93-year-old actor was hospitalized after he felt uneasiness in breathing. He has acted in more than 400 movies in a career spanning over six decades and played a vast range of roles - from a hero to a villain to a character artiste.

Pran Krishan SikandManna Dey

Prabodh Chandra Dey, known by his stage name Manna Dey, was a legendary Indian playback singer. The 94-year-old artist passed away in a Banglore hospital on an early morning of October 24, 2013. Dey was admitted for the treatment of his respiratory illness and renal failure. The legend sang in many Indian languages such as Hindi, Bengali, Assamese, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, Gujarati, Punjabi and Bhojpuri.

Manna DeyJiah Khan

Jiah Khan allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her Juhu residence on June 3, 2013. Also known by the name Nafisa Khan, the 25-year-old actress made her Hindi film debut in 2007 opposite Amitabh Bachchan in the controversial film 'Nishabd', for which she was also nominated for Filmfare Best Female Debut Award. She also acted opposite Aamir Khan in Ghajini, and with Akshay Kumar in Housefull.

Jiah KhanJagdish Raj

Veteran Bollywood actor, Jagdish Raj, passed away on July 28, 2013. He was quite known for playing the role of a police officer in number of yesteryear films. In fact, he as well holds a Guinness World Record for this feat, having acted in 144 movies as a cop. Jagdish acted in a several popular movies such as Johny Mera Naam, Deewar, Don, Shakti and Silsila. His last film was Meri Biwi Ka Jawab Nahin in 2004 where he again played as deputy inspector general.

Jagdish RajSudhakar Bokade

Renowned producer Sudhakar Bokade sadly passed away on Sunday night, July 7, 2013. He was 57 in his age, and breathed his last breath at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. Sudhakar, who is a part of the Bollywood family for over two decades now, is quite known for producing movies like 'Izzatdaar' and 'Saajan'. During his stint as a producer, he also made movies like Sapne Saajan Ke, Dhanwaan, Kalinga, Prahaar, Sauda and Yeh Pyaar Hi Toh Hai.

Sudhakar BokadeAbir Goswami

Renowned television actor Abir Goswami sadly passed away on May 31, 2013, due to massive heart attack. The actor worked in shows like Kkusum, Hotel Kingston, Yahan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli, Pyaar Ka Dard Hai, and many more. Earlier Abir Goswami underwent a surgery for Lymphoma, a kind of cancer tumour, in May 2012. According to sources, he suffered a massive heart attack when he was running on the treadmill at his gymnasium. He was then immediately rushed to a hospital in Malad, but succumbed to the ache.

Abir GoswamiRituparno Ghosh

Acclaimed Bengali filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh sadly passed away in Kolkata on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at around 7.30 am. He died due to cardiac arrest. The 49-year-old Ghosh was a national award winning director. Born and brought up in Kolkata, the filmmaker had won 12 national awards in the course of his career. His last film was 'Chitrangada' (2012) in Bengali language, which also had won a National Award. Apart from working with various renowned actors, he is the only one, who has worked with all the four Bachchan's - Amitabh Bachchan in Last Lear (2007), Jaya Bachchan in Sunglass (2012), Abhishek Bachchan in Antarmahal (2005) and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Raincoat (2004) and Chokher Bali (2003).

Rituparno GhoshShamshad Begum

Legendary singer, Shamshad Begum, who is often touted as one of the first playback singer in Hindi cinema, sadly passed away at her Mumbai residence on April 23, 2013. She was 94-year-old. She is known for her hit songs such as Mere Piya Gaye Rangoon, Kabhi Aar Kabhi Paar, Kajra Mohabbat Wala, and others. Her other hit tracks include Kahin Pe Nigahen Kahin Pe Nishana, Boojh Mera Kya Naam Re, Saiyan Dil Mein Aana Re, Leke Pehla Pehla Pyar and Chod Babul Ka Ghar. Ever since her husband Ganpat Lal Batto died in 1955, Shamshad Begum was living with her daughter Usha Ratra and son-in-law.
