Top 10 Women Centric Films of 2014 in Bollywood

Women centric films are doing wonders in Bollywood, and thus we have witnessed a lot of such movies in the year of 2014. From small budget films like Lakshmi to big-budget films like Mary Kom, these movies have not proved that subjects and performances can impress the audience. Though only few have managed to create magic at the box office, but many have made their mark in the heart of audience.

Lakshmi

Nagesh Kukunoor, who is National Award winning director, has made several heart-wrenching movies. And with 'Lakshmi', the director has once again touched the lives of people. Though the movie didn't succeed at the box office, but it was quite critically acclaimed.

Director Vikas Bahl and actress Kangana Ranaut strike the right chord with their triumphant movie 'Queen' on the occasion of International Women's Day. The movie impressed one and all with its storyline, and Kangana's superlative performance of a simple young woman made the audience fall in love with the actress. From biggies of Bollywood to the mango people, everybody praised the performance of Kangana. And thus, 'Queen' proved to be a commercial as well as a critical success.

QueenDedh Ishqiya

Madhuri Dixit, who is better known as the Dhak Dhak beauty, made her promising comeback with a women centric film 'Dedh Ishqiya'. Although this multi starrer film was filled with brilliant performances, but it didn't failed to meet the expectations set by all and this did a decent job at the box office. Meanwhile, the film also stars Huma Qureshi, Arshad Warsi and Naseeruddin Shah in lead roles.

Dedh IshqiyaGulaab Gang

The ageless beauty Madhuri Dixit made her promising comeback in Bollywood this year. Although she had two releases, which didn't fare well at the box office, but her performance and comeback was quite commendable. And thus as her performance was relatively praised in her film 'Gulaab Gang', but received a dull response at the box office.

After 'Queen', actress Kangana Ranaut again came back with yet another women centric film, titled as Revolver Rani. Expectations were high, but Sai Kabir's directorial film failed to impress one and all. Kangana was seen as a desi gangster girl in this satirical love story that was set against the backdrop of politics.

Though Vidya Balan did wonders with her women centric films like The Dirty Picture and Kahaani, her next film Bobby Jasoos sadly couldn't create magic at the box office. However, the actress managed to impress one and all with her striking performances by posing in 12 dissimilar avatars.

Rani Mukerji made her power-packed comeback after her marriage with YRF head scion Aditay Chopra. Starring in a very tough role as a female police officer in 'Mardaani', the actress did full justice to her role. Although the film did a decent job at the box office, but her performance was very much appreciated all over.

MardaaniMary Kom

Priyanka Chopra, who have always tried to do different roles, was seen in her first ever biopic. Based on the legendary boxer Mary Kom, the actress managed to impress the real hero and also the audience with her stupendous performance. However, the film didn't managed to impress the box office.

Mary KomKhoobsurat

Sonam Kapoor, who proved her talent in films such as Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Raanjhana, was seen in a women oriented film 'Khoobsurat', which was produced by her sister Rhea Kapoor. The film managed to impress the critics and also fared well at the box office. Sonam's performances was again much appreciated here, and the fashionista soon became the talk of town.

KhoobsuratSuper Nani

Veteran and legendary actress Rekha makes her comeback with a women oriented film, titled as Super Nani. Though she is an ageless beauty, but she is playing a role of a grandmother here. And undoubtedly, the actress marked her presence in the B-town. The film revolves around a granny and a respect and value of women in the family and society. Meanwhile, the film also stars Randhir Kapoor, Sharma Joshi and others in their respective role here.
